Hey, Marketing Besties,
Let’s be honest, navigating the abundant world of marketing in your late 20s or early 30s is an experience. We are past the early grade of “happy to be here”, yet you're still building your craft, not to mention the million other things you're juggling- professionally and personally. This is your Marketing Girl Era- a time of hustle, growth, and excitement. However, it can also be quite overwhelming. That's where I hope this community will come in.
The goal of this blog is to create a space for relatable marketing content, career tips, and a little bit of “you get me.” I mean - let's face it, sometimes the best ideas come from sharing experiences and learning from one another.
Finding Your Niche (and Not Losing Yourself in the Process)
Finding your niche is one of the biggest opportunities (and challenges…ugh) during this time frame. What makes you passionate? What are you exceptionally good at? Maybe you are a content icon, a social media expert, or a data-driven legend. Finding your strengths and honing in on them can help you stand out in a crowd.
Here's the thing: identifying your niche does not mean you are stuck behind a door. Face it, marketing is always evolving and you should be too. Embracing the opportunity to be a lifelong learner, try new muses, and experiment with different approaches. Redefine your niche as you go, and never stop adapting to your surroundings.
Building Your Network (Beyond LinkedIn)
A crucial aspect of the world of marketing is networking- and I'm not talking about collecting LinkedIn connections. I’m talking about the genuine relationships cultivated with other marketers, mentors, and collaborators. Do not hesitate to reach out to experts in your niche- the marketing world is a community and we are all in this together.
Scaling Your Skills (and Your Career)
Whether it's aiming for leadership, building a personal brand, or starting a business scalability is key. Dedicate time to developing skills that are in high demand and are malleable across industries. Skills that could be beneficial would include: data analysis, strategic thinking, content creation, and digital marketing.
Relatability is Your Superpower
We live in a time of perfectly curated Instagram feeds, polished LinkedIn profiles, and curated TikTok videos. Authenticity is refreshing. Share your journey so your community can help celebrate the highs and support you on the lows. The experiences you share and the perspective you provide make you relatable, and relatability is triumphant in the marketing ecosystem.
